The finest early golf collectable on the market today. Ca. 1916 white porcelain tee box markers from the Minoqua Wi. Country Club

Ca. 1916 white porcelain tee box markers from the Minoqua Wi. Country Club. Impeccable provenance, these were gifted from the original greenskeeper  to the current owner when the second nine holes were built in 1965. Each is heavy (3# or so) white porcelain with blue writing. Think giant  white porcelain door or furniture knob. Nothing is broken or damaged at  all. The spike on #9 is bent slightly. 5" in diameter x 3" thick. The  spikes are 4 1/2" long. You get all 9 markers. The original layout built  in 1916 was 9 holes only. Ones like this easily fetch $200-$225  individually with no provenance. This complete set of 9 is available for purchase here

In 1910 Vic Lamson of Fairfield,  Iowa purchased the land known as The Minocqua Country Club Complex. Vic divided the property into 100 foot shoreline lots, and in 1911 the  first private cottages were built. The golf course was designed in 1915  by CC. Clark and Hubert Howard. The clubhouse and the course were built  and opened in 1916. O.E. Heisser of the Minocqua Heights Hotel Co. and a  professional golf expert, J.J. Sturm of Chicago, were hired as  instructor and director of the course in 1922. The Clubhouse was  expanded to 100 feet long and 50 feet wide, adding a kitchen, lobby,  lounge, and screened veranda and the first Clubhouse cottages were also  built. The remodeled facility opened in July of 1923. It became a  popular place with two major golf tournaments held each year.
