19th century goat cart. Original red paint with black pinstripes. Great surface and patina.

One of the most popular Victorian era images was of young children in a two wheeled cart being pulled by a goat. Here are a few examples:

 Photos courtesy here

Last summer we had a really cool one that was made right here in Wisconsin. The paint was 100% original with all the appropriate wear a 100 year old object should have. We had it outside for photos when a friend came by with her big dog. Yeah, we hooked him up for a picture too.

Beware of reproductions of these and also small 4 wheeled wagons. They must show wear in all the correct places and surface should be dry and crusty.

World War II vintage prisoner of war folk art.

We just got these and they are really cool. A pair of battleships made from the lead in an old tube of toothpaste. They are each 3" long and the note is included. They are available here

Old artists palettes as a piece of art. Beautiful found objects,

This morning I was looking at this old palette we have in stock. It is initialed and dated 1910 and is really academically quite good. I don't know whether the portrait is of the artist himself or someone else but it is cool. It is available here.

It seems like whenever we get an old palette in with lots of paint glopped on it the piece sells really quickly. Same with one that has a portrait or landscape actually painted on it. The ones that were left just as they were when the artist was using them are like accidental abstract paintings left for us to ponder and enjoy.

Vintage folk art "rabbits" farm sign.

We love folk art and here is a really cute "rabbits" sign we just got in. It spent most of it's life on a fence post or barn at a Midwest farm. It is tiny and easy to display on a painted cupboard or shelf. It is available for sale here.

1890-1910 full size, carved coconut bank. East coast of Mexico or Carribean origin.

We love good folk art and this is as nice a carved coconut bank as you will find. The coconut may have been a prison piece or just a decorative carving for the tourist industry. This one is decorated with circus performers which is very rare. It has a man and a dancing horse.  A dandy juggler in striped pants. Two figures, one walking on his hands and a man and woman possibly a knife thrower or a bearded lady. It is perfect structurally and the patina is 100% original. It is missing two tiny mother of pearl eyeballs. Besides banks I have seen cups, ladles and covered boxes but none with circus scenes.
