Objects don't have to be ancient to be cool. This train set was made in the early 1970's by M. Lattimer of Wausau, Wisconsin. Now normally train layouts are too bulky and the trains with them are pretty common. We like to have objects that are not in price guides and most toy trains are.
This set was made using "N" Gauge track and cars. These are tiny. The rails are 1/2" apart and the cars are about 1 1/2" long. From this Mr. Latimer cut and applied different shades of paneling to the cars.
After building a dark walnut and pecan carrying case he did the actual layout inside it. As you can see the combination of different colors, the buildings and the trees really looks modern. I love the wooden balls for trees. It gives it a very "architectural rendering" look. Here is the finished product.
The details and extras are awesome. It comes with a detachable power cord, features forward and reverse and has an uncoupler included in the layout. When you are done playing with it you simply close the lid. The case is 27 1/2" x 21 1/2" x 5" when closed.
It is available for purchase at our store or here
