Vintage car models turned into cool demolition derby cars.

Yes, this is a 100% "guy" thing. I promise to do the next three posts on mid-century modern furnishings and retro design but I had to share these with you. The model-building hobby has been around forever but really took off after World War II. Injection molded plastic car models were built by everyone from returning veterans to 10 year old kids. These vintage models, in their unopened boxes, are quite collectable these days. Names like Monogram and Revell are a couple of the most collectable names in plastic models. You can read more about them and buy and sell here.

A couple years ago I read about some extreme car model guys that would completely turn a regular, vintage, car model into cool demolition derby cars. This small segment of the model building hobby now has several Facebook pages. Here and here are great examples. The website modeljunkyard.com also features tons of great demo derby models.
