North American P-51 Mustang. The coolest American-made, long range, single seat, fighter and fighter bomber ever built. Used extensively in World War II and Korea.

The first flight of the Mustang was on October 26, 1940 and it was put into regular service in 1942. It was retired in 1984 after being flown regularly by the Dominican Air Force. Model Airplane News 1930's-1950

Just started going through a couple boxes of vintage Model Airplane News magazines I got today. Probably close to 100 issues altogether. Look at the incredible graphics on theses. I love everything about these magazines, especially the art deco font they used. They are all available here
